DAY 5 TONLE SAP LAKE (FLOATING VILLAGE) – AIRPORT DEPARTURE (B)

In the morning, you visit a Floating Village either Kampong Phluk Village or Chhong Khnease Village.
• Kampong Phluk Floating Village, located at 33 km at north-south of Siem Reap. The villages are primarily Khmer and have about 3000 inhabitants between them. Flooded mangrove forest surrounds the area and is home to a variety of wildlife including crab-eating macaques.

During the dry season when the lake is low (March – July), the buildings in the villages seem to soar atop their 6-meter stilts exposed by the lack of water. At this time of year many of the villagers move out onto the lake and build temporary houses. In the wet season when water level rises (Aug – February), the villagers move back to their permanent houses on the floodplain, the stilts now hidden under the water. Kampong Phluk's economy is, as one might expect, based in fishing, primary in shrimp harvesting.

• Chhong Khneas Boat Docks, located about 15 kilometres at South of Siem Reap town. Arrive the port, then
embark on a traditional wooden boat and start cruising on the Tonle Sap Lake, Cambodia’s biggest natural water body, one of the largest fresh-water in South Asia and its home to one of the World’s most diverse ecosystems. The experience on boat is wonderful as you’ll pass by floating village, shops, schools, restaurants, Post office, mostly seeing friendly children in their small boats going to or return from school and fishermen doing their daily  life. You also have chance to view romantic sunrise or sunset if you come early in morning or late afternoon.
